Like Ferrari, Lotus originated out of the need to satisfy a boyish racing habit. Packing large power into a tiny package, it's a make that continues to build upon its founder Colin Chapman's belief that lightness is the key to the best sports cars (“adding power makes you faster on the straights, subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere”.) Although now absent from the world's racing circuits, these small yet speedy vehicles can still be seen hugging the corners and storming the straits of roads across our country.
The first new Lotus in practically a generation (since the 2008 Evora), the Emira has been marketed as a game-changer for the brand. Yes, it boasts the features that Lotus has long been known for (nimbleness, power, aerodynamics), but those core values have been combined with improved levels of practicality, comfort and tech so that you're guaranteed to be the driver of the most accomplished Lotus ever made (at least, until the next Lotus comes along!). And to have the Porsche 718 Cayman S as your main rival has surely got to be a mark of respect.
There's only the First Edition trim to speak of at this moment in time, but you do get two driving setups: Tour and Sport. Tour is geared towards a more relaxed drive whilst Sport adds extra punch for those who want to enjoy themselves a little bit more. Engine-wise, there's either a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Mercedes-AMG A45 or a 3.5-litre Toyota V6 engine. It's capable of 0-62mph in just over 4 seconds on its way to a top speed of up to 180mph. Boot space is never going to be a priority for a sports car, let alone one the size of a Lotus, but the 151-litres worth should still be enough to squeeze some shopping in.
You can tailor your dream Lotus Emira lease deal for any budget by altering the leasing options, whether that be contract length, initial payment, annual mileage and vehicle availability. If you are looking to lease with no deposit, just set the "upfront" initial payment to one month!
