In existence since the 1940s and named after Japanese industrialist Soichiro Honda, Honda was once more known for motorcycles, its popularity as a car manufacturer really picking up around the turn of the new millennium. As Honda's first all-electric urban car, the five-door Honda e hatchback is manoeuvrability itself – a perfect little vehicle for getting into those tight parking spots around the city. This tiny hatchback is a fifth-generation model, and with its futuristic yet retro-looking exterior (just look at that headlights panel . . .), it certainly looks the part. Rivalries are shared with similar-sized vehicles like the MINI Electric and the Fiat 500 Electric. The Honda e comes in two trims: the standard version and the Honda e Advance. The regular Honda e accelerates from 0 to 62mph in just nine seconds, whilst the Honda e Advance improves that figure to just over eight seconds, managing a top speed of 90mph. When it comes to the interior, even the base model gets hi-tech interior and a digitised cabin, and one rather nifty highlight is the Sport driving mode, adding a nice punch to the acceleration.
