So amigos, new car on our site, and it’s a good one too! Well, it’s technically a quadricycle, not a car, but it’s cute, savvy, and we like it an awful lot.
Get ready to meet the new electric Citroën AMI!
Electric Avenue
Yep, quite literally, because with a top electric speed of just 27mph, you’re only going to be able to drive this cutie pie in the middle of town (or maybe across town if you’re feeling ambitious). It’s French-made, and you can just imagine it cruising along a Paris street at low speeds on a sunny afternoon. Preferably to the tune of music in the background. Grimsby town centre . . . less so, but it still works, and that’s the kind of environment the manufacturers intended it for. As you’d expect, the two-seater AMI is ridiculously cheap and makes going to the shops whilst it’s raining that little bit easier! And you’ll certainly stand out amongst all the scooters and bicycles.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
The AMI’s max speed obviously limits it to stop-start city driving, so you’re way out of your depth anytime you venture into a 40mph zone. And don’t even think about taking it onto the motorway. That’s illegal AND dangerous.
What’s the Range?
A whopping 43 miles on its one and only 5.5kWh battery, with Citroën saying it can be recharged in as little as three hours. 43 miles isn’t much, we know, but seeing as the AMI’s too slow to let you leave your town or city, you’re hardly going to need to go further than 43 miles anyway. That makes the AMI a great second car for short-distance city travel, or maybe a great first car for a student going to and from class.
Trims . . .
Three of em’. Ami, Ami Pop, and Ami Vibe.
It’s Environmentally-Friendly
It’s an electric car (sorry, quadricycle!), so you probably figured that out already. But in addition to that, every vehicle part on the AMI is 100% recyclable. Except for the battery, which is ONLY 85% recyclable . . . (shocking!)
Any Toys or Gadgets?
Pfft . . . for a slow-coach like this? In a way though, the vehicle itself is one big toy, but you do get an interior customisation choice of three colours: orange, blue or grey (we like orange the best). On the downside, there’s no boot to speak of, but the small compartments and storage spaces in the cabin help make up for that.
Happy driving!
